Obituary for Betty Wisher (Fountain)

Betty Doris (Fountain) Wisher was born on December 31, 1927 to the late Leroy Fountain and Louise H. Dixon in Cheswold, Delaware. Betty was married to the late Russell Wisher in 1947. She departed this life on November 17, 2018 at her daughter's home in Dover, Delaware.
Betty received her education at Lockwood Elementary and Delaware State High School. She was employed for many years as a Dietary Aide at the Delaware Home & Hospital for the Chronically Ill and retired in 1989.
Betty was a member of Emmanuel A.M.E. Church in Hartly, Delaware. She was a member of Class No. 1, the Culinary Committee and the Alice D. Dixon Missionary Society. In 2017, the Delaware Conference Branch Women’s Missionary Society recognized her for 25 plus years for “continuous meritorious service”.
Community Recognition's were awarded to Betty in 2011; she received a merit of “Dedicated-to-Serve” from the Senior Volunteer Program. She was a member of the Mamie Warren Senior Center and worked as a volunteer for 25 plus years for Meals-on-Wheels. They presented her with a Lifetime Achievement award from 2000 – 2016 on June 5,2017.
Mom-Mom Bett, as her grandkids called her ,was known for her famous sweet potato pies, sweet potato rolls, rice pudding and her chicken & dumplings. Her pastime was eating out at her favorite place, Boston Market. When Betty was asked to share something interesting about herself, she would say, “I lose my glasses every day and can't find them”. If you asked her what she needed to survive, it would be Pepsi & Peppermint Patties. If you ask anyone who really knew her what her favorite quote or saying would be, they would tell you “Whatever”!
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy Fountain and Louise Dixon; her husband, Russell Wisher; five brothers and two sisters.
Betty leaves cherished memories with her son, Russell (Charlene); daughters, Ruth, Thelma and Barbara; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law; Greta and Evelyn Fountain); and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
