Cheryl Venita Bratcher
Cheryl Venita Bratcher, daughter of the late Harold Bratcher and Delores Brooks Bratcher, was born on Wednesday, January 29, 1958, in Easton, Maryland. She entered into eternal life on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at the age of 61.
She was a 1976 graduate of Queen Anne’s County High School and a 1979 graduate of Chesapeake Community College.
In 1988, Cheryl gained employment at Equitable Bank, which later changed to MBNA, and finally to Bank of America. She retired in 2017, after many years of dedicated service. She volunteered for community service, which enabled her to donate to her church.
Cheryl was a very caring, loving and jovial person. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and hosting family gatherings. When her children were growing up, their friends felt like Cheryl was their mother, too. They didn’t have a problem confiding in her, knowing that what they shared with her stayed with her. She was also a lover of dogs!
Cheryl was a very dedicated and faithful member of Mt. Plymouth A.M.E. Church, located in Felton, Delaware. Her organizational skills were exceptional. She had great ideas and didn’t mind sharing them, but insisted on remaining behind the scenes. She truly had a servant’s heart. She made it her personal quest to ensure that Sis. Margaret Bowers, mother of the church, was taken care of. Cheryl served as the president of the Edith Scott Missionary Society, was a member of the Bible study class, taught Vacation Bible School and was a member of the Lay Organization. She was also a member of the Delaware Conference Branch Missionary Society.
Throughout her illness, Cheryl never complained. She fought a good fight, she kept the faith and now she has finished her course.
Cheryl was preceded in death by a son, Walden Gregory Berry, Jr.
Cheryl leaves to cherish her memory, devoted and committed companion, Clifton Tilghman; loving and devoted daughter, Shadrienne Williams and her husband Kevin; loving and devoted sons, Craig Bratcher, Clifton Tilghman, Jr. and Alexis Tilghman; loving and devoted mother, Delores Bratcher; grandchildren, Julian Williams, Jadyn Oberg, Chase Williams and Tyleer Tilghman; brother, Don Bratcher; aunts, Frances Wheeler and Doris Brown (Oliver); uncles, Charles Brooks, Vaughn Bratcher (Carmen); godson, Tyrone Hopkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; special friends, Virginia Baynard (cousin), Janet Bordley and Sandra Gaines Ransome; and her Mt.
