Obituary for Gregory D. Laws

Gregory David Laws born, March 16, 1989 passed suddenly September 25, 2018 at his residence he shared with his oldest sister, Tina, and niece, Khanasia, at the young age of 29. Gregory, AKA “Lil Greg”, was a loved family member who enjoyed working and visiting his family on both his mother and father’s side often and respectfully. Lil Greg also enjoy watching sports and rooting for his two favorite NFL teams The Philadelphia Eagles and the Denver Broncos. Yes, Lil Greg had 2 teams and he loved them both--even if they played against each other!

Growing up, Lil Greg had a speech disability making it hard for others to understand him, however that didn’t stop Lil Greg from achieving. He enjoyed going to school as he tried to deal with his speech impairment. He attended William Penn High School and was introduced to the Andy Outreach Program in 2005. This program helped Lil Greg ace his speaking along with building his character as a young adult with disabilities. Lil Greg was so successful with the program; it landed him a job at Texas Roadhouse, where he worked since the year 2005. He started as dishwasher and later moved on to become Food Prep Associate. Lil Greg took his job seriously and rarely missed a day from work. His motto as he often recorded himself on Social media was; “I’m about to go get this money!”

When Lil Greg wasn’t at work, he enjoyed spending time with family at barbeques with his main homie;, James Wright, brother, Dante and cousins, Jahlil and Stevie, dancing and listening to his favorite rapper; 50 Cent. He also enjoyed arguing with his only niece Khanasia over just about anything, and most of all, debating with his sister, Tina, and Aunt April about the Eagles and Cowboys rivalry. Lil Greg had a very close relationship with his only sister, Tina. Growing up, Lil Greg and Tina were like two peas in a pod and they shared many memorable moments. They became each other’s protector. You would often think Tina was his mother based on how she always looked out for her baby brother, her Lil Greg. Trust me, you had better not mess with Lil Greg! He also enjoyed spending time in Dover with his brother, Dante, doing what they called, #Mackinthegirls! But not to take away from his parents, Lil Greg had no problem with letting you know who he was born to by ALWAYS saying, “I belong to Paulette aka “Lett Lett” and Big Greg aka West” and EVERYONE understood!

Lil Greg leaves to cherish his beautiful memories; mother, Paulette Denise Laws; father, Gregory David West; sister, Tina Denise Laws; brother; Dante Laws; niece, Khanasia Denise Nash. He also leaves to cherish, maternal grandmother, Marva Sturgis and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, as well as, his coworkers from Texas Roadhouse.

Lil Greg, you left us all so sad with your sudden departure and often times the tears just flow, but we celebrate your life because we believe God makes no mistakes--this we know.
