Hakim Nkenge Amin Thomas was born April 25, 1981 in Wilmington Delaware to Jamilah El-Amin. He departed this life on Thursday, September 20, 2018.

Hakim received his high school diploma on April 25, 2001 from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Hakim was employed at Masley Gloves Corp from 2012 until 2018 when he became ill. He loved working with the Masley Gloves Corp because they treated him as family.

He was affectionately known as Butter or Hak and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. He loved his life. He loved detailing cars, which was one of his professions. He also loved sports, which included football, and was a Kansas Chief Fan. Hakim enjoyed spending time with family and friends and playing video games. He loved listen to music and dancing. He loved going to Delaware Park. As a toddler, he LOVED following his Aunt Debbie around the house. Hakim was also known as being a daredevil. He was a part of Big Brothers and Big Sisters Inc. Hak was known for giving his mother’s food out to the neighborhood children.

Hakim was preceded in death by his grandparents, Phyllis L. Thomas and Bennie L. Thomas.

He leaves cherished memories with his mother, Jamilah El-Amin (James C. Ponton); his loving sister, Zakkiyyia A. French; two daughters, Maneia U. Thomas and Ah’Shya I. Davis; one niece, Ziyanah A. Lloyd; a devoted companion, Tanya Smith and her 3 children; 3 grandchildren; special aunt; Godmother, Deborah A. Thomas; his favorite Uncle, Norman L. Thomas, Uncle Timothy Bayard; Aunt Celestine Bowe (Michael); long time best friends, LaRence and Shawn, one goddaughter N’Jea Coleman, a host of godsisters, godbrothers, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
