Obituary for Thomas Lee Wash

Thomas Lee Wash, affectionately known as “Sonny Boy” , was born on August 26, 1941 in Belzoni, Ms. to Emma Wash. Sonny Boy left this journey of life to go home with our heavenly Father on February 9, 2019.

Sonny Boy moved to Wilmington, DE at the age of 9, he received his early education at Bancroft Elementary School and moved on to Howard High School. Sonny Boy served in the United States Army as Sharp Shooter in the Vietnam War rising to the rank of PFC in only 11 months.

Sonny Boy returned to the United States to begin his career at the Chrysler Plant in Newark, DE. He worked hard and diligently to provide for his family, retiring after 38 years.

After retiring, Sonny Boy opened up his own mechanic shop S&K Auto, servicing the community proudly and honestly, always with a smile.

Sonny Boy was loved by many and known for his playful and wonderful personality. Sonny Boy developed a love for Karate and motorcycles, mastering them both. As a Karate Master he taught and competed in tournaments, acquiring many trophies and ranking as a 3rd Degree Black Belt. During the early 70’s, Sonny joined the Thunder Guards MC Club and was a well respected 7%. (Seven Percenter.) Sonny won many trophies for best dressed Harley and you could find him thumbing thru magazines looking for chrome to dress his bike.

One of his greatest moments was giving his heart and life to Christ. Sonny Boy will be greatly missed by all, his smile and laugh will forever be etched in our memories.

Sonny leaves to cherish his memories his wife Lydia; his loving and dear mother, Emma Gardner; his children, Alfred Hoskins , Lolita Young (Rudolph), Randall Thomas, Joyce Martin (Neil), Cheryl Carter, Walter Rogers (Toni); devoted daughter, LeAnn Carter, Thomas Seeney (Christina); 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
